High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in one or more of the four domains of potential; intellectual, creative, physical and social-emotional.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with dynamic lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose Nangus Public School for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the four domains of potential; intellectual, creative, physical and social-emotional.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

At Nangus Public School, every student is known and cared for. All staff have high expectations for students. We believe the saying that 'A rising tide lifts all ships!'

We identify students with high potential or gifted abilities and provide opportunities for enrichment and extension. Our goal is to challenge these students, foster their creativity, and help them reach their full potential while supporting the learning of all students.

Across our school

At Nangus Public School, our teachers and staff are committed to ongoing professional learning. They regularly take part in training to ensure they are equipped with the latest teaching practices, helping us deliver high-quality education for every student.

To support the diverse needs of our learners, staff work together to provide differentiated learning across all Key Learning Areas. This means students explore the same topics but engage in tasks that are appropriately challenging for their individual learning needs.

Across NSW
At Nangus Public School, we work closely with local organisations, schools, and programs to provide enriching opportunities for our high potential and gifted students. These partnerships allow students to explore their talents, access specialised programs, and extend their learning beyond the classroom.
